Tottenham wouldn’t feel the pinch of Dembele’s departure if they sign this 23-year-old Uruguayan star in the summer

Tottenham opinion: Pochettinho should sign Mauro Arambarri

Tottenham’s failure to replace Mousa Dembele is proving to be a costly decision as Spurs could potentially drop out of the top four at the end of the season.

With away games at Manchester City and Liverpool yet to be played, Mauricio Pochettino has to get his tactics spot on if Tottenham were to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Irrespective of where they end up this campaign, Spurs need to invest on a midfielder in the summer.

The North Londoners have to get a player who is capable of breaking up the play and regaining possession, something Dembele did wonderfully well. Getafe’s midfield destroyer Mauro Arambarri is a tremendous option for Pochettino to consider.

The 23-year-old has been brilliant for the Azulones since coming in on loan from Boston River at the start of last season. His impressive performances made Getafe sign him on a permanent deal before the beginning of this campaign and has continued his brilliant form.

The Uruguayan has started 23 games in the La Liga this season and has been an integral part of Getafe’s incredible run which has them placed 4th in the league. Arambarri’s strength and ability to regain lost possession makes him an asset to any team he plays for.

He is, in some ways, similar to compatriot Lucas Torreira. A composed midfielder on the ball but a relentless ball winner without it, Arambarri would thrive in the Premier League, thanks to his physical nature.

Like Torreira, Arambarri isn’t the tallest, standing at just 5 feet 9 inches, but his willingness to put his body on the line irrespective of the consequences will be loved by the English fans and he is sure to be an immediate hit at Spurs.

Arambarri also has a brilliant right foot and has the ability to score from long range. His accuracy from distance is remarkable and when afforded space in and around the box, he is a lethal customer to deal with for the opposition.

The Uruguayan averages two tackles per game and 1.1 interceptions per game so far in the La Liga this season. Despite his short stature, Arambarri has successfully won 1.6 aerial duels per game and is also a decent passer of the ball, averaging 3.7 long balls per game. (WhoScored)

Conclusion

Tottenham would go a long way by signing Mauro Arambarri in the summer and with the Uruguayan being just 23 years old, he will be a brilliant partner for Harry Winks for at least the next few years.

Spurs shouldn’t hesitate to make a move for the midfielder in the summer irrespective of where they finish in the league this season.
