Leeds United opinion – Should the Whites sign Luke Freeman?

According to a report in Football.London, Leeds United are eyeing up a move for Queens Park Rangers star Luke Freeman. The Elland Road club have been scouting the 26-year-old for a while now and are preparing to make a move for him in the summer.

However, a move is understood to depend on whether Leeds get promoted to the Premier League or not. They are currently second in the table, and are on course to get automatically promoted to top-flight football.

As per the report, Freeman was attracted by an offer from Middlesbrough last year, but he signed a contract extension at Loftus Road.

But with QPR under pressure to manage the finances, they are expected to consider offers for the 26-year-old, and may sell him if the right bid is made (h/t Football.London).

Luke Freeman

Here’s why Leeds should sign Freeman in the summer:

Freeman’s versatility could be a positive addition

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, QPR’s Luke Freeman can operate on either wing or play as a central midfielder. He has played in each of those positions for the Loftus Road side this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 35 league appearances in total.

The 26-year-old possesses the turn of pace with the ball to go past players in tight areas. He is good at dribbling, can deliver key passes and also contribute to the game without possession, by exhibiting the work rate.

Leeds United are expected to be without their playmaker Samuel Saiz, who has decided not to return to Elland Road when his loan spell ends at Getafe.

Hence, it is pretty clear that Marcelo Bielsa’s men require a midfielder who can operate behind the striker and also fill in on either wing.

Conclusion

Everything points towards the conclusion that Leeds United would be sensible to buy Luke Freeman in the summer transfer window. The player is of quality, and the club requires someone like him, which makes it a win-win for both parties.
