Tottenham Player Ratings vs Huddersfield: Here’s how the Lilywhites fared

Despite being unable to field Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a 2-0 win against Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium. Thanks to a resonant performance from striker Harry Kane, who scored a brace to hand Spurs all the three points on the night, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are very much in the running for the title.

For David Wagner’s men, it is another outing to forget and the Terriers will remain at the bottom of the league for now. Huddersfield Town have to make quick amends or the club could face the drop at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

Paulo Gazzaniga (6/10)

The goalkeeper didn’t really have much to do at the back. Huddersfield were poor going forward.

Toby Alderweireld (8/10)

Another strong performance from the Belgian defender who continues to impress this season. He was calm and commanding at the back.

Davinson Sanchez (7/10)

Sanchez looked a little rusty at the back in the first half but improved his concentration in the second. It was a good performance from the Colombian.

Jan Vertonghen (8/10)

Another calm and composed performance from the veteran centre-back. He made a number of important tackles and ensured Huddersfield were kept at bay.

Jan Vertonghen

Kieran Trippier (8/10)

Trippier picked up an assist and proved his ability to supply in the absence of Eriksen. He is turning out to be a massive asset going forward.

Eric Dier (5/10)

It was another poor game from Eric Dier who seems unable to pass the ball to any of his teammates in the middle of the park. He really needs to focus more.

Mousa Dembele (6/10)

Gave away the ball a couple of times but did his job defensively. Dembele’s bullish presence seemed to intimidate the Terriers.

Danny Rose (7/10)

Rose looked dangerous with his marauding runs down the flank. He was unable to pick up an assist but the England defender was fouled in the box, which resulted in the penalty.

Lucas Moura (6/10)

The Brazilian didn’t seem all that effective in this game but he did look dangerous with his pace and skill on the ball.

Son Heung-Min (7/10)

It was a strong performance from the South Korean who came close to finding the net a couple of times. He posed all sorts of problems with his directness on the ball.

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane

Harry Kane (9/10)

It was a supreme performance from the England captain who scored a brilliant brace to cap off an impressive performance. It looks like Harry Kane is back and scoring.

Substitutes

Victor Wanyama (6/10)

Made a couple of clumsy tackles but ensured Spurs saw out the game and kept the scoreline at 2-0.

Harry Winks (6/10)

Picked up a yellow card with a couple of sloppy fouls, but he was good with his simple and crisp passing.
