Championship leaders Norwich City came from behind to beat Bristol City at Carrow Read to keep themselves at the top of the table. Kenny McLean scored a brace for the Canaries, while Ben Godfrey also scored one. Jamie Paterson and Callum O’Dowda were on the scoresheet for the visitors.
In the 12th minute, Paterson was well found by Famara Diedhiou and the former did well to put the ball in the back of the net to give Bristol the lead. Norwich equalised in the 36th minute through McLean’s strike that went off the post.
However, the away side restored the lead a minute later when O’Dowda made a chance for himself and finished it fabulously.
10 minutes into the second half, Godfrey tapped in the leveller for Daniel Farke’s men. He was assisted by fullback Max Aarons.
Norwich led for the first time in the game when McLean’s shot on the half-volley across goal was enough to beat the Bristol keeper.
The Canaries went close to extending their lead when Marco Stiepermann hit the bar. Marley Watkins came close to make it 3-3 as well, but it was not to be for Bristol City.
This defeat ended the Robins’ seven-game winning run, while Norwich stay at the top of the table and keep their automatic promotion hopes firmly in their own hands.
It was a nervy win in the end but they will take in whichever fashion it comes.
