Norwich City opinion – Canaries should win the race for Joe Hart

According to a report in Lancashire Live, Burnley are open to listening to offers for their goalkeeper Joe Hart. Few Ligue 1 teams including Lille and Lyon are interested in signing him. Championship sides Norwich City and Middlesbrough are also in the reckoning.

Amidst injuries to Nick Pope and Tom Heaton last summer, the Clarets spent £3.5m to sign the former Manchester City keeper (h/t BBC). He then played the first half of the season, before being replaced by Heaton in goal.

With Sean Dyche’s men having enough stoppers in their squad, it is pretty clear that Hart will be on his way out of Turf Moor. The Englishman hasn’t been in great form in recent years, but he still remains a quality shot-stopper. (h/t Lancashire Live)

Here’s why Norwich City should beat other sides in the signature of the 31-year-old:

Joe Hart

Hart’s experience would be helpful next season onwards

Norwich City are currently the leaders of the Championship with five games to go in the season. Hence, they are the favourites to win the title and get promoted to the Premier League.

While they have been an attractive unit going forward, the back-line could use some improvements, especially when playing in the top-flight. Shipping in 50 goals in 41 league games doesn’t make very good reading.

Thus, bringing in quality defenders, who have a lot of experience might not be a bad idea. Furthermore, signing an experienced Premier League goalkeeper would help them in general.

Daniel Farke

Tim Krul is the first-choice in goal for the Canaries, with Michael McGovern as a back-up. The former has played few games in the top-flight, but the latter hasn’t even featured in one.

Therefore, getting Joe Hart would help them navigate this league, and obviously, would add more quality.
