Southampton boss Mark Hughes
Southampton are now on the back of two losses and the Saints are definitely in trouble of facing another relegation scare this season. Mark Hughes’ men have been very inconsistent in their displays and quick amends need to be made to salvage their season.
The South Coast club come up against an unbeaten side in the form of Chelsea this weekend. Hughes will be desperate for a result but needs to be wary of a number of in-form attackers.
Apart from Shane Long, Mark Hughes has no other injury concerns at the moment. He can deploy his strongest team against the Blues and can go for the win.
One of the few consistent performers in the squad this season, McCarthy has been exceptional since taking up the reins from Fraser Forster.
Soares has flourished under Mark Hughes but needs to show more threat when going forward.
The Dane has been impressive in dealing with aerial balls, but he has had trouble with attackers running in behind.
Hoedt has looked good after partnering Vestergaard at the back. He will continue at the back for this game as well.
Another one of the reliable players in this squad, Bertrand is always a hard worker and is willing to give his all for the team.
Yet to pick up a goal or an assist for the club this season, Elyounoussi is still finding his feet in England. He will nevertheless start this game.
His set-pieces have to be on point against a Chelsea side that is very dominant in the air.
The 23-year-old midfielder has displayed a new side to his game this season, scoring 2 goals from long range.
Redmond looks a shadow of his old self and has barely threatened going forward. He too will start against the Blues.
Austin hasn’t shown good form this season and needs to be more clinical in front of the goal.
