Manchester United are going through a massive rebuilding process as they’ve got rid of many first-team players from last season. Having fielded a very young team for the first four games, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s philosophy is pretty apparent.
After quite a few years of dangling about in the Champions League and Europa League, they’ve got a promising manager in Solskjaer, who has a backroom staff that includes other former Red Devils in Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick.
Another reason for the shift towards the youth has been the questionable recruitment. One player, who could go on to define this United side for years to come is 17-year-old Mason Greenwood, who has been widely touted as the best academy graduate since the days of the fabled class of ’92.
He has made appearances off the bench in every league game so far and will likely be starting the full 90 minutes in cup competitions. He has now been linked with signing a new contract.
Many clubs depend on their academy graduates to work wonders as their loyalty is usually never in question. This causes fewer problems in the dressing room and guarantees the ability to attract other top players to the club. Harry Kane is such an example for Tottenham Hotspur and the same could be said of the young Mancunian in a few years.
Greenwood is a phenomenal talent, who is capable of playing in any of the forward positions because of his creativity and unbelievable goal-scoring abilities. His most impressive skill, however, is his ability to dribble, pass and shoot with both feet.
This unique talent would often help him score free kicks and penalties with either foot and sometimes in the same game.

He also has the physicality to already be playing in Premier League matches and is primed to have a breakthrough season. Thus, United will secure its long-term future by handing the youngster a contract.
