Manchester City vs Brighton prediction: Manchester City line-up

Manchester City are back on top of the Premier League and have a one-point lead over Liverpool. Things are looking on the up for the Cityzens after a long time, which is something they need to take advantage of.

However, that being said, they are on a quadruple bid, and have one trophy already in the bag. The FA Cup is next on the charts, and Manchester City face Brighton and Hove Albion in the next round. They are in the semi-finals and have a relatively easy draw against the Seagulls.

On the other side of the draw are Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers. That does make for some interesting viewing but Manchester City are the favourites to win the tie because Brighton are not on the best run.

At the moment, the Seagulls have only managed to win two of their last five games in the Premier League. This includes losses to Chelsea, Southampton and Leicester City. They need to buck up if they are to have a chance against Manchester City.

Team News

Sergio Aguero limped out of their weekend game and did not make the cut for their mid-week fixture. The Argentine made the injury list alongside Fabian Delph, Claudio Bravo and now Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The left-back limped off in their mid-week fixture against Cardiff City, having strained his hamstring (Manchester City). This does give Manchester City a chance to play Benjamin Mendy, who has recently returned to full training.

Probable Manchester City XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Ederson (GK)

The second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League, Ederson has been brilliant for Manchester City and is their only fit first-team goalkeeper.

Kyle Walker (RB)

A presence in the Manchester City side, the full-back walked off the bench to replace Zinchenko and showed just how good he is.

Aymeric Laporte (CB)

A revelation this season, the Frenchman is among Manchester City’s best players and deserves a consistent spot in the team.

John Stones (CB)

The English international made the final cut against Cardiff City, and impressed against the Bluebirds.

Benjamin Mendy (LB)

This is it. This is Benjamin Mendy’s chance to prove to Pep Guardiola and the rest of Manchester City that he is still among the best in his position.

Fernandinho (CM)

The 33-year-old has been Manchester City’s stand-out player but he has missed a large part of the season due to injury. Should start this game.

Bernardo Silva (CM)

He should be among the nominees for Player of Season and he was rested for the mid-week fixture and should find his way back into the team.

David Silva (CM)

The Manchester City veteran was rested in the mid-week and should find his way back into the team for the big semi-final.

Leroy Sane (RW)

He made a big impact against Cardiff City, showing the fact that he can be someone that the club can depend on.

Gabriel Jesus (ST)

An able replacement for Sergio Aguero, it looks like the Brazilian is finally gettting back to his best form.

Raheem Sterling (LW)

A Player of the Season contender, the Englishman has produced 26 goals in 28 appearances and was rested for the mid-week fixture.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
