The Liverpool Echo has reported that Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Ben Winterbottom from Blackburn Rovers. Winterbottom made the cut for the U-18s’ derby game against Everton on the 30th.
A highly-rated prospect, the 17-year-old has played a significant role for Blackburn Rovers over the last two seasons with 25 appearances. He started last season brightly for the club but was then dropped out of the squad for seven of the following nine games.
However, his performances in the final few games of the season piqued Liverpool’s scouts according to this report. The 17-year-old impressed in games against Manchester City, West Brom and Liverpool themselves.
