Forget RVP, Here Are 3 Super Strikers Manchester United Should Try To Buy This Summer

3 Replacements for Robin van Persie

News of Robin Van Persie’s future not being sorted has fuelled many rumours about what could go on at the club. Manchester United will be spending big this transfer window as they return to the Champions League and need to invest in their squad. The team didn’t play the best football last season and Louis Van Gaal will be looking to fix one of the issues they had to deal with which was the lack of goals scored.

Van Persie is 31 at the moment and will be hard to replace, but there are quite a few top strikers who could to the job and much more if they are brought to the club. We look at 3 super strikers who could replace Robin Van Persie at Manchester United, but none of them would be cheap options.

1. Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke

The hottest property in English football, at least in terms of strikers, Christian Benteke saved Aston Villa from relegation and took them all the way to the FA Cup final. The 23-year-old seems to have recovered from the nasty injury which saw him miss the World Cup and seems to be at his best all over again.

His second half performance for Villa was impressive and he could fill the hole that Van Persie would create. Strong in the air with decent pace and finishing ability, Benteke seems to have a release clause of £30 million and going by his performances that would be the right price for the talented youngster.

2. Mario Mandzukic

Just one season at Atletico Madrid and Mario Mandzukic could be on his way out from the club. Although he has impressed for Atletico, he hasn’t done enough to become a regular for Diego Simeone and the return of Fernando Torres has seen his place come in jeopardy.

Mandzukic is 29-years-old, but he is known for his top class work rate and has the strength to do well in the Premier League. He would be a really good option for Manchester United and wouldn’t be as highly priced as some of the other strikers in the world but he would do a great job for the team.

3. Karim Benzema

Benzema

With Rafael Benitez coming in as the new manager, lot of changes are expected. Many believe the Spaniard will bring in an era of football which is more defence oriented rather than the gung-ho style Real Madrid are known for. Speculations are rife that Cristiano Ronaldo might be playing in another position which might set the whole world of football on its head.

Karim Benzema could be a casualty of the Benitez era, Benzema has been on the wish list for many clubs and the Frenchman would be an ideal replacement for Robin Van Persie at Manchester United. He has the positioning, finishing sense and has better pace than Van Persie, would he be willing to move to a club which is rebuilding? That is a question that only United can answer.
