Forget Romelu Lukaku – Here Are Three Beast Strikers Everton Could Sign In The Summer Including This Chelsea Ace

Three Replacements For Romelu Lukaku Who Everton Can Target In The Summer

Romelu Lukaku has become one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League in the past two years or so. The Belgian international has been in England for quite some time now, having joined as a teenager in Chelsea back in 2011. It took a while though, for him to truly emerge onto the scenes and that happened when he moved to Everton in 2013 on loan, before making it a permanent transfer.

The 23-year old has really come into his own for the Toffees and has grown into one of the most explosive forwards in the game. Since his permanent move to the Goodison Park, Lukaku has scored an amazing 85 goals for Everton from 160 games across all competitions, 24 of which have come in this season. The Belgian international is currently the highest goal-scorer in the Premier League this season, with 23 goals and looks primed to finish the season as the Golden Boot winner.

However, his time with the Merseysiders may be coming to an end. Lukaku will enter the final year of his existing contract with the club at the end of the ongoing campaign and according to manager Ronald Koeman, the 23-year old has refused to sign a new deal and could be leaving Everton in the upcoming summer transfer window.

That does come as a bitter blow for the Merseysiders, who were enjoying a decent first season under Koeman, with Lukaku being the driving force. But with his exit almost confirmed, they will need to plan for the future and here are three options that Everton can consider signing in the summer to replace the outgoing Lukaku.

Lukasz Teodorczyk

Recent reports revealed that Everton were, in fact, showing some interest in signing the Polish international in the summer as a replacement for Lukaku.

Teodorczyk, who was on loan with Belgian club RSC Anderlecht from Dynamo Kyiv, has been sensational this season, which saw the club make the transfer a permanent one last month. In his first season in Belgium, the 25-year old has scored 28 times from 44 appearances across all competitions and is the leading goal-scorer for the club.

An all-round forward with good technical abilities, Teodorczyk is a great option for the Toffees to look at and if he continues to perform the way he has been doing this season, there will not be many at Everton who would miss Lukaku.

Anthony Modeste

Another forward who was reportedly watched by Everton scouts not so long ago, Anthony Modeste could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for the Merseysiders.

The 29-year old Frenchman has been in fine form for German club FC Koln and has amassed 23 goals in the Bundesliga this season from 28 appearances – third highest goal tally in the German top division behind Robert Lewandowski (26) of Bayern Munich and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (25) of Borussia Dortmund.

Considering the fact that he is vastly experienced, Everton wouldn’t have to wait for him reach his peak, nor would they be taking a risk on an unproven young striker. A great finisher and a powerful force in the air, Modeste could be the answer for Koeman in the summer if Lukaku leaves.

Michy Batshuayi

This could be a left-field choice, but a route that Everton have taken before and that has reaped them great success. Batshuayi, much like Lukaku in the past, finds himself warming the benches at Chelsea and could be looking for a way out in the summer.

The Belgian international moved to Stamford Bridge last summer but has failed to get any sort of regular game-time under Antonio Conte. He has been used primarily in the cup competitions and has been overlooked for the league games, even when Diego Costa has been unavailable. Despite his sporadic appearances, the 23-year old has impressed when called upon, scoring 7 goals and assisting 3 from 24 games.

Very similar to Lukaku in the way he plays, Batshuayi is strong, physical and possesses a decent turn of pace. He has shown in the past that, if given the proper opportunities, he can grow into a fine striker and Koeman could be the right man to bring the best out of the Belgian.
