Watford Player Ratings vs Wolves: Here’s how the Hornets fared

Watford produced a near-flawless display to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday.

The game was decided in the space of 58 first-half seconds as Etienne Capoue scored a long-ranger and Roberto Pereyra found the top corner with a smart finish just moments later.

After taking a 2-0 lead inside 21 minutes, Watford dominated the game and rarely looked like conceding. Wolverhampton Wanderers came out after the break with renewed relief but had very little to trouble Watford as the visitors left Molineux with three points.

Watford Player Ratings

Ben Foster – 6/10

Commanded the box very well and made a couple of important saves. Foster would be very happy with the clean sheet.

Kiko Femenia – 7/10

A bundle of energy on the right, Femenia surged forward with purpose and showed great defensive awareness as well.

Craig Cathcart – 7/10

Coped the aerial threat of Raul Jimenez well and controlled the game from the back. A solid outing for the centre-back.

Adrian Mariappa – 7/10

A positive display from Mariappa, who linked up very well with Cathcart and neutralised the hosts’ threat.

Adam Masina – 8/10

Masina was a constant threat on the left as he made some excellent runs forward. The powerful left-back produced some quality crosses from the left flank and remained a menace throughout the game.

Will Hughes – 7/10

Hughes put in a really good shift, often drifting around in the midfield to dictate the tempo of the game. He was a treat to watch.

Etienne Capoue – 9/10

Blasted the ball into the back of the net from a long way out to put Watford in front. Apart from the screamer, Capoue was a beast in the midfield and rarely allowed anything to pass by.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6/10

Doucoure held his guns in the middle of the park and broke up the play. Showed willingness to join the attack as well.

Roberto Pereyra – 8/10

Another classy performance from Pereyra, who is growing with every passing game. Showed great composure to double Watford’s lead. A top show.

Gerard Deulofeu – 7/10

Deulofeu was given the false 9 role and he essayed it very well. He dropped deep at times to receive the ball and made some clever runs behind the defenders as well.

Isaac Success – 7/10

Success combined very well with Deulofeu up front and that caused endless problems to the Wolves defence.

Substitutes

Andre Gray – 7/10

Replaced the tired Deulofeu and worked hard.

Sebastian Prodl – 6/10

Prodl came on to add solidity to the backline. Unfortunately, he pulled his hamstring.

Ben Wilmot – N/A

Replaced the injured substitute Prodl for what happened to be his Premier League debut. A moment to cherish for the young Wilmot.
