According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are set to lose youngster Bassala Sambou to Germany. The 21-year-old is amongst the club’s brightest prospects but at the same time, the report has added that he does not see a future at the club.
It seems that Marco Silva’s policy of not using his best young stars has hurt their youth development. Bassala Sambou isn’t the only one concerned according to the report, with right-back Jonjoe Kenny sealing a move to Schalke as well.
Things need to change at the club and Ademola Lookman’s performances last season have not inspired confidence.
With him truly growing into his rather large boots at Leipzig, Lookman finished his loan spell there by contributing to 9 goals in just 11 appearances. However, in 24 appearances this past season, Lookman managed to contribute to just 3 goals.
That shows just how bad things are going for the young’ uns at Everton and why it has to change. It’s why the club have to start with Bassala Sambou, especially given his burgeoning talent. He arrived at Everton after finishing his final season with Coventry by scoring 25 goals.
It was a stunning display of lethality, pace and a rather impressive hold-up play, with 21-year-old combining everything into one tidy package. However, that has changed after the move to Everton, with Sambou playing mostly for the U-19 and U-23 sides over the last few years.
Nevertheless, it hasn’t stopped him from finding the net on a consistent basis, netting 11 goals this season.
It has seen the Liverpool Echo report that Everton have a massive fight on their hands to keep the 21-year-old. Given their struggles up top this past season, the Toffees should really consider giving the young forward a chance before letting him go.
There is a chance that he could turn into their saviour up front, the man who could lead the line with poise and lethality.

Everton have been known for integrating their youth stars into their first-team at a very young age, and that is something that Marco Silva needs to continue doing.
The 21-year-old Bassala Sambou is just the man who can help prove that theory, and maybe become the frontman that the club has been crying out for.
