Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho has gone ahead and thanked owner Roman Abramovich for his full support despite their worst start to a Premier League campaign since the 1978-79 season. A statement was issued by the Chelsea main-man, who led his side to last season’s league title and has been given the “full support” of the club, right through the hard time that he is going through now.
Speaking in the recent interview, the former Real Madrid boss told Gazzetta dello Sport, “It shows the confidence of Abramovich in the manager who has won three Premier League titles with this club. I thank him and I keep working.”
Despite that, Mourinho added that he was “struggling to find an explanation” for Chelsea’s poor start to the new campaign, which sees them being current placed at the 16th spot in the point’s table.
The Portuguese manager signed a new three-year contract at Stamford Bridge in August and still feels that his side has the quality to turn things around soon.
He added, “What’s going on? I do not know. I cannot hide that reality, and I don’t want to.”
“But I assure you that I am working like never before and we will come out of this.”
