Burnley F.C. is a professional football club based in Burnley, Lancashire, England. The club was founded in 1882 and the team originally only played friendly matches until they entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1885. Their home is called Turf Moor and their nickname is “The Clarets”.

The Lancashire club have been champions of England twice in 1920-21 and 1959-60. They have also won the FA Cup once and have won the Community Shield twice. Burnley have also reached the 1961 European Cup quarter–finals and have a strong history.

Burnley’s all-time leading goal scorer is George Beel with 188 goals and Jerry Dawson hold the record for most number of appearances, which stands at 569.
