Arsenal opinion: Should the Gunners make a move for Ozan Kabak?

According to reports from the Express, Arsenal have joined the race for Stuttgart star Ozan Kabak as the Gunners look to add defensive reinforcements. The report further adds that Arsenal are not the only side in the race with Manchester United and Tottenham also keen on a move.

This should come as no surprise, given how well the 19-year-old centre-back performed over the season. Despite Stuttgart’s struggles in the Bundesliga, Kabak, who arrived in January of 2019 from Galatasaray, has been one of the few shining lights at the club.

The 19-year-old was brought in to replace the outgoing Benjamin Pavard and now with Stuttgart’s issues, things could get worse for the German side. Relegated from the Bundesliga, Stuttgart will play their football in the 2. Bundesliga and this could see them lose a few stars.

But as mentioned above, at the top of that list will be Ozan Kabak and the fact that he won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award, makes it even more probable. The 19-year-old may have arrived in January 2019 but he’s made an outstanding impact.

He finished the season winning 64% of his aerial duels, 60% of the challenges he attempted and an impressive passing accuracy of 84%. It all points to the fact that Stuttgart have unearthed another gem, after the likes of Filip Kostic, Timo Werner and even Benjamin Pavard.

Not to mention, he’s missed just two games since arriving in January, netting three goals in the process. They are all brilliant statistics and for a club like Arsenal, it makes a lot of sense. The Gunners were defensively terrible last season, conceding the second highest number of goals amongst the top-six sides.

It’s a stunning record and if it wasn’t for the fact that the club scored the third highest number of goals, things would have been a lot worse. The various injuries across the season proved to hurt the club even more and further affected their top-four hopes.

Arsenal fell just one point short and their humiliation in the Europa League final was downright incredible. This is something that Unai Emery has to change at the club and adding someone like Ozan Kabak will only help his cause.
