West Ham opinion: Should the Hammers make a move for Joan Jordan?

According to reports from the Daily Star, West Ham are interested in a move for La Liga star Joan Jordan as they look to add reinforcements.

The report further adds that West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is looking for a move for a new midfielder and believes that Jordan can be their man. It further adds that he is not their only target.

The Daily Star has added that Dani Ceballos, Andre Gomes and even Kostas Fortounis are being targeted but nothing has panned out so far.

It’s why Pellegrini has entered the race for Jordan as they look to add a brand new midfielder to their ranks. That should come as no surprise, especially given the fact that the Hammers lack midfielders.

That has been their biggest issue this season despite adding both Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez last summer.

Neither player has made any impact whatsoever, with injuries stopping them from doing as much. To make things even worse, Pedro Obiang also spent large portions of the season on the physio’s table.

It made everything so much harder for the Hammers and while Declan Rice’s rise eased things, the fact that him and Mark Noble were the only two fit stars hurt the club.

Not to mention that Noble is already 32 years old and cannot be playing every single game of the Premier League season anymore.

He has done well when called upon but there were insistences when the game simply sped past him. That needs to change and adding someone like Joan Jordan will do exactly that. The 24-year-old has done well with the La Liga side, playing 84% of their games this season.

Not only that, Jordan has produced 8 goals in 34 appearances for the club, showing his worth on more than one occasion. For a club on a budget, and looking for a physically solid and technically adept midfielder, few players would be as affordable as Jordan.

The 24-year-old is a versatile star and that’s what makes him perfect for West Ham. He is predominantly a box-to-box midfielder but his minutes this season have been spread across a wide variety of roles.

From a deeper defensive role to a more attacking number 10 role, Jordan has done them all and more importantly done it very successfully.

Conclusion

West Ham have to add a new midfielder in the summer window and someone like Joan Jordan would be absolutely perfect.

His paltry €15million release clause to his name makes him an absolute steal. Not to mention that his current deal with the club does end at the end of next season.
