Celtic closed in on the Premiership title after beating St Mirren 2-0 in Paisley to stay 13 points clear at the top of the table. Timothy Weah and Ryan Christie were the scorers for Neil Lennon’s men, who were largely comfortable in this game.
Around the 15th minute, Weah jumped the highest to meet a Mikael Lustig cross and head the ball towards goal. It eventually went in after bouncing off the cross-bar, to hand the Hoops a lead early in the game.
Around the half-hour mark, the away side got a penalty when Jim Kellerman handled in his own box. Olivier Ntcham stepped up to take the spot-kick, but the attempt was saved by the St Mirren goalkeeper before the Frenchman lobbed the rebound off the bar.
Callum McGregor had a good game in attacking midfield, from where he created loads of clear-cut chances, but Celtic players were a bit off-radar in terms of finishing.
The points were eventually made safe in the 85th minute when the McGregor set up a goal for Ryan Christie, who did well to clip his effort into the net via a slight deflection from the defender.
At the end of the day, it was a decent win for Celtic as they remain 13 points clear with just six games to play. It means they need two more wins to confirm their status as champions this season.
