Wolves opinion: Nuno Santo should win the race for Daniel Happe

The Sun has reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined the race for Leyton Orient star Daniel Happe.

A young defender, the 20-year-old has done relatively well since the turn of the year, winning his place back in the team. That has seen the likes of Wolves, Brighton and even Norwich City track his displays this season.

However, it’s Wolves who really have to make a move for the young defender given the state of their team this season. Currently in excellent shape, the Molineux side sit in seventh place but Watford are hot on their heels and are only one point behind them.

For a recently promoted team, Wolves are doing really well, with the likes of Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves and even Diogo Jota flourishing. Under Nuno Espirito Santo, the club have done really well and if they keep their form, they could even end up in a Europa League spot.

That is a phenomenal achievement for the club and it shows why they need a new centre-back. They have only three centre-backs at their disposal, with Leander Dendoncker deputising at times for the club. This has caused a few problems as the Anderlecht star is not a natural defender.

He is a midfielder deputising as a centre-back and that’s why adding someone as talented as Daniel Happe will help the club move forward in the near future. Only 20 years old, Happe has shown composure beyond his years.

He struggled in the first half of the season, with just two appearances to his name, but an impressive 26 minutes saw Happe surge up the order. Since then, the youngster has played every game for the club, which has seen the interest rise in him.

What does make him really good for Wolves is the fact that Dan Happe is eerily comfortable with the ball at his feet. Surprisingly comfortable with the ball and a good tackler, the 20-year-old will only improve going forward and that’s what Wolves will help him do.

Conclusion

Making a move for Daniel Happe will not turn Wolves into world beaters but the 20-year-old certainly has the potential to really grow in the near future. Happe has shown the talent and the work ethic to do well, but doing with a club like Wolves will certainly help with his development.
