According to a report by Italian publication Calciomercato in February, Watford are considering a move for Porto’s Yacine Brahimi in the summer. The Hornets were said to be rivalled by Serie A giants AC Milan for the signature of the Algerian.
Brahimi’s current deal with the Portuguese outfit ends in the summer and he would be available for free. Javi Gracia’s side should go for the 29-year old and with him coming in for next to nothing, he will be a fine addition to the Hornets squad.
Watford have had a brilliant season under Gracia this term and are in a battle with Wolves for a 7th-place finish. They have a serious chance of earning a place in the Europa League qualifiers for next season.
Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra have both been highly influential for the Hornets this season but the duo could have bigger impact when played centrally by Javi Gracia. Issac Success and Ken Sema have shown glimpses of their quality this campaign but haven’t been consistent.
Yacine Brahimi ticks all the boxes that Watford need and has been in decent form for Porto so far, having scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists so far in all competitions. The Algerian is highly versatile and is capable of playing on either wing without any difficulty.
Like most other Algerian wingers, Brahimi’s biggest strengths are his pace and dribbling skills. The 29-year-old is pretty quick on his runs but unlike other speedsters, he is very intelligent with them.
The Porto man chooses his runs perfectly rather than attempting each one and is highly effective when a teammate is able to find him.

Brahimi is also often seen occupying deeper areas of his own half in order to receive possession and dictate the play, which would free up space in the attack for his teammates to run into. His vision is also very commendable and his weight on the ball in his passes is quite incredible.
Brahimi’s addition would be highly beneficial for the Hornets and he would be a massive threat alongside Pereyra and Deulofeu.
Brahimi would also bring in bags of top-flight experience, which would be a hugely valuable asset for a relatively young side chasing European qualification.
