According to reports, Bordeaux star Malcom could be on the brink of leaving the club in the summer. The highly-rated forward was close to completing a move to North London this January but that ultimately failed due to the player’s decision to remain with Bordeaux for the remainder of the season.
However, the Brazilian starlet has recently confirmed that he will leave Bordeaux in the upcoming summer transfer window, having received the green light from the club. As per reports, both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen to add Malcom to their ranks next season, as they look to further strengthen their attacking department in the summer.
Arsenal, having already signed the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the winter, are still keen to sign a proper winger, as they look to replace Alexis Sanchez.
While it’s clearly evident that a move to Arsenal could be tempting, considering the fact that Malcom is likely to get a lot of opportunities following the departure of Alexis Sanchez, Tottenham could actually be a more logical destination for the £45m-rated Brazilian wonderkid.
The Lilywhites completed the signing of PSG outcast, Lucas Moura in January, whose addition to this squad has definitely boosted Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options.
However, in case Spurs lose at least one of Harry Kane, Dele Alli or Christian Eriksen this summer, Pochettino could once again look to strengthen his attacking department, especially with Erik Lamela struggling with frequent injury issues, while Moussa Sissoko has only turned out to be fringe player since his deadline day move from Newcastle in 2016.
Malcom, on the other hand, could be an ideal addition to Tottenham, largely thanks to his dynamism and pace in the final third, which is highly suitable for Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical setup.
Known for his ability to drift past defenders at ease, the Brazilian sensation is already one of Europe’s most sought-after talents and considering Pochettino’s ability to nurture young talents, a move to Tottenham definitely makes sense for the 20-year-old.
The Argentine mastermind has developed the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld into world-class players while also nurturing the likes of Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Danny Rose into very good Premier League players. Malcom could well be the next beneficiary of Pochettino’s proficiency in developing youth players. Malcom’s electric presence on the pitch will be a boon for this highly compact Tottenham side seemingly looking to make a bigger impression in the Premier League.
