Why this £20million ace with 9 goals and 3 assists this season would be a wonderful signing for Newcastle

Nicolai Jorgensen To Newcastle United – Good Or Bad Move

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a January move for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen. Although the two clubs have been going back and forth, a deal is yet to be finalised.

However, Rafa Benitez is aware of the need for a player like Jorgensen at St. James’ Park and is understandably keen on acquiring the 27-year-old’s signature. The Magpies are believed to have submitted an initial bid of £14million but the Dutch club are demanding £20million.

Jorgensen seems like a strong prospect for Newcastle and he could truly improve their chances of sealing a higher finish. Having scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, Jorgensen is quite strong at finishing.

The 27-year-old’s performances are refined yet effective and he is an out-and-out counter-attacking threat. On a good day, he can split even the toughest of defences apart to find the back of the net and that is exactly what Newcastle have lacked this season.

Newcastle Need Someone To Score Goals

Currently sitting in 15th spot in the Premier League, the Magpies are merely one point away from the dreaded relegation zone. In order to progress higher up and secure a strong finish, they need all the power they can find and to that extent, Jorgensen seems like a viable option.

The Dane is sturdy and consistent enough in front of the net, which can be the tonic to solve Newcastle’s problems. Benitez’s men started the season on a strong note and were even touted for a top-ten finish at the very least but as time wore on, so did their performances.

However, with the second half of the season ahead of us, they have plenty of time to turn things around and they need a solid striker to do that. The likes of Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Joselu have been painfully underwhelming and their errors often cost Newcastle.

Consistency is something they have all struggled with and that has reflected in the club’s performances. For example, Newcastle have managed to score merely three goals in their last five Premier League games.

If they are to progress and survive the season, they need to win games and for that, Benitez needs a proven goalscorer. Jorgensen’s exploits do look promising enough and he could be a wonderful signing for Newcastle this January. The Denmark international is quite experienced as well and at 27 years of age, he will be ambitious enough to make a strong start in one of the most popular leagues in the world.
