According to the Lancashire Live, Man United are monitoring the development of 16-year-old starlet Ravil Tagir, with the report claiming that the Red Devils are keen to add more to their exciting pool of youngsters.
The teenager has enjoyed a breakthrough in senior football at second-division Turkish side Altinordu this season and also made his debut for Turkey U-21s during the recent international break.
Man United, though, are not the only club to have been credited with an interest in Ravil Tagir, with the Lancashire Live suggesting that reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG are also keeping close tabs on the youngster.
Tagir, who was born in Kazakhstan and rose through the youth ranks at Altinordu in Turkey, has only made 4 appearances for the club’s first-team in the second-tier but that has apparently been enough for continental heavyweights like Man United and PSG to take note of his obvious talent and vast potential.
A left-footed centre-back by trade, the Turkish U-21 international is not quite amongst the hottest emerging prospects in Europe just yet, but he is regarded as a player with the potential to go on any play at the highest level in his country.
Held in high regard by the youth staff at Altinordu, the 16-year-old has been tipped for stardom very early in his footballing career. That he is already playing senior men’s football at the age of 16 and has already represented Turkey at the U-21 level speaks volumes of his rapid development.
Tagir’s successful transition from the academy ranks to the senior level at this stage of his career is indicative of a level of maturity that belies his tender years and Man United are apparently convinced that he has all the makings of a future star.
The Red Devils are yet to make any formal approach to the Turkish outfit over a potential deal for the talented teenager but it is expected that they would continue to track him for a considerable period of time before putting an offer on the table.
To put things into perspective, Ravil Tagir might still be in the embryonic stages of his career but his potential has already caught the eye and Man United have every reason to look at him as one for the future.
Of course, there is a hell of a lot of difference between the Turkish second-tier and the Premier League but Tagir is still very much in his formative years as a player and a chance to hone his skills in a more competitive environment, coupled with the availability of better coaching personnel and training facilities, should work wonders for his development.
With United shifting their focus towards the development of youth under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils constantly need to pluck out young talents from all corners of the globe in order to supplement their academy ranks with top-quality prospects and Tagir’s meteoric rise suggests he could be a future star.
United have already promoted academy youngsters like Tahith Chong, Scott McTominay, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood in recent times and a clear pathway from the academy to the senior ranks at Old Trafford should prompt more youngsters to further their development at the club.
As a matter of fact, Altinordu might not be the biggest of clubs in Turkey but they have an impressive track record of blooding young talents, with Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu a prime example.
All in all, it might be too early for Man United to make a move for the 16-year-old but they should keep a close eye on him, nevertheless.
