Liverpool are battling it out with Manchester United in the transfer window for Danish international Emre Mor. The 19 year old has been in the headlines for the past few days as two of England’s biggest clubs and fierce rivals are lining up bids for the teenager. Liverpool seem to be leading the race for the signing of this Danish wonderkid. But who is Emre Mor? Here is a brief account of the 19-year-old’s statistics, style of play and what he will bring to Liverpool.

Club Career and Statistics

Emre Mor is a winger and plays for Danish side F.C Nordsjaelland. At 16 years of age, Mor was on a trial training with Saint Ettiene, but was not offered a contract. Mor played for Lyngby Boldklub at the U17 and U19 levels, but was released by the club in January 2015. On 31 January 2015, it was confirmed that Mor had signed for Superliga outfit FC Nordsjaelland. Although he was scouted by bigger clubs from abroad like Manchester United, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Galatasray, Mor wanted to stay. He made his first senior team appearance as a substitute and Since then Emre Mor has made 13 appearances for the club and has scored 2 goals. Mor played for Denmark at the U17, U18 and U19 levels and was called up for the Turkish national side where he made his senior team debut on March, aged 18.

Emre Mor is a typical winger with bags of pace, creativity and unpredictability. He is extremely quick with the ball at his feet, dribbles past defenders with ease and is very good at changing the direction. His unpredictability is a huge asset to his game and defenders struggle to deal with him. Here is what Kasper Hjulmand had to say for Emre Mor:

“What he is capable of is extraordinary. He has got so much speed in his feet and is so unpredictable. Just when you expect him to pass, he dribbles again and changes the direction. And when he does that, you do not catch him, that is plain impossible.”

Emre Mor does not like comparisons, but his dribbling reminds people of Lionel Messi. The way he changes his direction so easily is extraordinary.

Emre Mor has all the qualities of becoming a world class winger, only if he develops under an experienced coach. Jurgen Klopp has clearly stated that he wants to develop young talent at Anfield and Mor could just be the player that Klopp would like to develop at Liverpool. Also, Emre Mor could possibly have the best years of his footballing life if he moves to Liverpool.
