Leicester City opinion: Should the Foxes make a move for Ferran Torres?

English news outlet Daily Mail has reported that Leicester City are keen on a move for Valencia star Ferran Torres.

The 19-year-old has done very well for himself in the La Liga and has built a good reputation. Both Leicester and Arsenal are interested in a move for the Valencia youth product as they look to get themselves back on track.

But given Leicester City’s issues in the midfield, they need the young 19-year-old more than the Gunners, especially in Brendan Rodgers’ first transfer window as Foxes manager. The former Liverpool boss has done well in his short spell so far at Leicester City but needs to keep that momentum going.

He’s slowly but steadily started to create an identity for the Foxes but needs to keep things moving forward. Doing that might be easier said than done but adding someone like Ferran Torres will certainly help his cause.

Moving from strength to strength after being called up to the senior side, the 19-year-old has and will only keep improving. That has been on show over the last few years and with time, he has the potential to turn into the next Riyad Mahrez for Leicester.

A right-winger by trade, Torres is capable of playing on either flank, often switching sides at will. He combines a brilliant first touch with great technical skill and speed to help beat opponents.

But it’s his spatial awareness and presence in the final third of the field that has really impressed scouts over the years. The 19-year-old hasn’t scored too many goals this season, with just 3 goals to his name, but his positioning and ability in front of goal is still rather impressive.

With time, he should be able to add goals to his game and under a manager like Brendan Rodgers, that trait should improve. Furthermore, Ferran Torres’ ability and talent to improve means that he would arguably become the best wide attacker that Leicester City have in their ranks.

Both Rachid Ghezzal and Demarai Gray have failed to take their chances this season, with only Harvey Barnes impressing.

Conclusion

Leicester City need someone like Ferran Torres in their ranks and with time, the 19-year-old will improve even further. His ability has been on show this season and it’s why Liverpool were linked with a move.

But given their issues and lack of quality wide attackers in the team, the Foxes need someone like Torres.
