Why Chelsea signing Chouiar and Soumare would be a brilliant investment

According to a Daily Mail report, Premier League side Chelsea are interested in the French duo of Mounir Chouiar and Bryan Soumare of Dijon.

The Dijon pair was under the Blues’ radar as their scouts were seen in attendance during Dijon’s shocking 2-1 win over French leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Frank Lampard and his Chelsea could bring them ashore during the January transfer window provided Chelsea’s transfer ban gets lifted before that.

For Dijon, the 20-year old Chouiar opened the account in his side’s comeback victory. The goal was Chouiar’s first of the season too.

Meanwhile, Soumare came on as a substitute for Dijon, who are currently struggling at the bottom of the French league table (16th).

With Frank Lampard’s young lads doing a commendable job in the Premier League, Chelsea’s willingness to trust the youngsters couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.

With one eye on the future and the other on the money, this double swap looks like a wonderful opportunity for the Blues.

All this said and done, the pair’s move would become a reality only if the Blues’ transfer ban gets lifted before the January window opens.

Now let’s have a look whether the move would turn out to be a profitable outing for the one-time Champions League winners.

Cheap money

Bryan Soumare’s rise in the footballing world has been rather swift. He has played only eight games for the Reds this season after joining them this summer from Saint-Quentin, who played in the lower division.

Chouiar, meanwhile, has played seven league games and had impressed last week by scoring his first of the season and has received much media attention after dethroning the French champions.

With Dijon hovering in the relegation zone, they might be forced to sell these two young talents in order to bring someone more established to save them from further disgrace.

Since both are rather young and new to the footballing world, Chelsea can afford to buy this Dijon duo for a rather cheap sum.

Future prospects

Chelsea have, and still believe in buying young talents from across the world. The likes of Kurt Zouma, Fakayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount just a few among many.

The Blues’ notion of investing in the future rather than spending big on top-performers and stars have helped them immensely.

Soumare is comfortable playing in the attacking midfield role but can switch to both wings too, while Chouiar can work efficiently as a forward.

The French-Moroccan can also play on both flanks. By signing these young starlets, Chelsea have nothing to lose but only everything to gain.
