According to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official site, the club have signed PSG starlet Raphael Nya. The 19-year-old joins the Premier League side from PSG, having featured heavily in the UEFA Youth League.
Nya however, featured very heavily for the Parisian giants’ youth side and even wore the captain’s armband in the group stage wins over Liverpool, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade. The young defender has certainly impressed his new side, having arrived a few days earlier.
Since then, he’s already managed to integrate himself into the team, even winning plaudits from the academy manager. His talent and ability might just see him find a place in the club’s senior side for the upcoming season.
Wolves finished in a European spot last season and they did it with style, confidence and grit. This shows the quality of the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad.
So with them finishing in a Europa League spot, it means the club will have to endure a 50-odd game season. This could prove to be a slight problem for the club as they do not have the depth to handle the same.
It’s exactly why Raphael Nya might get a chance to prove himself, as the first few qualifying rounds will give manager Nuno Espirito Santo to play his younger players. This allows the likes of Ruben Vinagre, Raphael Nya, Paulinho and Joao Caiado to get a chance to shine.
It is chances like that the Molineux stadium side have to take advantage of, as it lets them rest their first-team stars. Moreover, it would allow the club to figure out just how good certain players are and Raphael Nya is a part of that group.
The young defender has done well over the last few years but the Premier League is completely different to the Ligue 1. It allows the club to gauge just how good and talented the 19-year-old really is. However, given his talent, Nya should come through with flying colours.
