Brazil legend Dani Alves is available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
Alves, 36, is ageing like a fine wine, turning in a memorable Copa America campaign for the Selecao. He was one of the best players at this summer’s Copa America, proving that he still has what it takes to play at the top level at 36 years of age.
The aggressive right-back looks fit and as hungry as ever, with all the signs pointing towards a move to the Premier League – a division which he is yet to play in.
According to reputed journalist Duncan Castles (h/t The Express), Alves has a lot of interest from clubs in Europe as well as in Brazil. Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in signing the Brazilian, with Castles claiming that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have already held discussions with the player.
Spurs sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid earlier this week, which has left Pochettino with the likes of Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth as options at right-back.
However, Aurier has been far from impressive since joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago. In fact, the North London club are also planning to offload the Ivory Coast international this summer.
If Aurier leaves the club as well, Pochettino would definitely need an experienced head to mentor the likes of Walker-Peters and Foyth. That makes Dani Alves a perfect fit for Spurs.
Alves is one of the most decorated players in the history of the game, having won over 40 trophies in his illustrious career.
His best years are behind him but the veteran Brazilian showed in the Copa America that he still has the burning desire to compete at the highest level. He can still make an impact with his tackling, forward runs, link-up play and fantastic crosses.

Tottenham play with an incredibly high tempo and place great emphasis on their full-backs getting up and down the pitch. Alves is just as useful in the final third as he is defensively, making him a good fit for Pochettino’s style of play at the club.
A serial winner and a vocal leader, the ex-Barcelona star’s presence on and off the pitch could make a huge difference at Tottenham.
Alves’ volumes of experience, winning mentality and pedigree could prove to be a valuable asset for Spurs. On a free transfer, it is an absolute no-brainer.
