According to a report in the Evening Standard, Everton have surprisingly been linked with a move for Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha. Zaha has been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer and this link has come a little out of the blue.
However, that shouldn’t deter Everton from trying to sign Zaha. The Ivory Coast international is coming off a gruelling campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations and will want to be aware of his future as soon as possible so that his performances aren’t affected in a negative manner.
Everton are a side looking to make that push for European spots and have shown a lot of ambition in the last few years in terms of spending. However, they have to be careful about the type of players they’re recruiting and can’t spend the over the odds for players who aren’t a fit.
Last season, Everton depended far too heavily on Gylfi Sigurdson and Lucas Digne for creativity. Sigurdson was also a prominent goalscorer for the club along with Richarlison, and it would be asking too much of them to do it all over again.
Richarlison and Zaha in the same side would be a terrifying prospect for most opposition defences and would give Everton a real fear factor.
Zaha would lessen the burden and add a lot more quality to the current Everton side. He would also be a massive improvement on the right-wing with Theo Walcott not having contributed enough last season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun haven’t done enough either, having scored just 8 goals among themselves.
Zaha is also a very versatile player, capable of playing in a variety of attacking positions, and can do it at a very high level too. With Eden Hazard having left the Premier League, there is an argument to suggest that Zaha is the best dribbler in the league at this moment in time, and should elevate himself if he joins this ambitious Everton side.

Next season is massive for Marco Silva. Everton will be expecting to play better football and ideally end up in a higher position. Getting someone like Zaha will allow the club to achieve their targets.
It would also be a real statement to get one over a club like Arsenal, who are still a massive club in England and Europe.
