One of the most important traits for a player in the Premier League and in the modern day of football is pace. The need to have incredible speed and blow past the opposition is certainly something that cannot be looked over when trying your luck at the highest level of the game.
Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo are all blessed with incredible pace; even the Bundesliga has seen the likes of Marco Reus, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Douglas Costa burn down defenders so why should the Premier League be any different?
5. Jamie Vardy
He might be known as the player who is leading the charge for Leicester at the top of the Premier League but the top scorer is blessed with incredible pace and is the fastest player in England. Vardy might be a regular goal scorer but his pace is actually one reason why he has gotten so many chances and is able to go through clear on goal. Vardy had clocked an incredible speed of 35.44km/h for Leicester and he could be doing a lot more than just running come the end of the season.
4. Jeff Schlupp
Jeff Schlupp’s season has been hit hard by injuries but he is another Leicester player who has done his best to burn down the defence on the wings. The youngster just came second to Vardy’s incredible speed having clocked up 35.26 km/h for the Foxes in one of their earlier games in the season.
3. Billy Jones
A change in manager hasn’t really helped Sunderland this season a lot and they are still looking down the barrel towards relegation unless Sam Allardyce changes things up but one of their players does make it into the list with Billy Jones. The Black Cat is the third fastest player in the league at the moment and during one of his many chases to defend this season he did clock up a top speed of 35.07 km/h, hopefully this can help them avoid relegation.
2. Marc Albrighton
What is it with Leicester and speed? Riyad Mahrez is also blessed with great speed and they also had Nathan Dyer in the team but Marc Albrighton is the player who just makes it into the list ahead of the others. He was certainly one of the bright spots for the Foxes during the initial days of this season and had clocked a top speed of 35 km/h for them this season.
Two seasons back, he was just a boy from the academy, now he is one of the main players of the Arsenal side, who are challenging for all major trophies this season. His top speed is 34.74 km/hr. Who can forget that super burst he did against Bayern Munich (at Emirates) during the later stage of the game? Yes, We have a new speed king in the premier league!
