Three Reasons Why Chelsea’s Spearhead Should Snub China And Stay At The Stamford Bridge

Share

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea were strengthened by the return of star striker Diego Costa and were the comfortable winners this weekend as they put 2 past a struggling Hull City side at the Stamford Bridge. This win opens up an 8 point gap at the top of the table with Arsenal in the 2nd place and the Blues will now feel that the title is within their reach. But the past few weeks saw Chelsea and its fans, busy with one name in Diego Costa.

The top goal scorer in the Premier League at the moment, Costa, is expected to end his Chelsea career at the end of the season, with the Chinese Super League are ready to offer him a staggering wage pack. Antonio Conte revealed that he will try everything to keep him in England and here are three reasons why Costa should snub every offer from China to stay at the Stamford Bridge:

Money ain’t everything:

The biggest pull from China is the financial factor involved in the deals. The CSL outfits are not only ready to pay record fees to clubs to lure the players out but they are rather targeting the players directly, offering them insane wages to get them to Asia. Costa is offered £30-million-a-year for his services, which might be a record this month but it is not something that will stay put for long. Just a year later, the figure will be close to the double of the current amount and it is not something that should attract a football star. Surely, Costa would want to play and win at the highest level and CSL at the moment is just not right for someone of his quality.

The new CSL rule:

After the CSL clubs went on a spending spree in the previous transfer window and at the start of the current one, the league authorities took it on themselves to reduce the amount of money spent and came up with a smart plan. They have introduced a new rule that allows just 3 foreign players to play in a club, giving all the clubs a big shock. This rule will make sure that players who are offered regular football will only make the move. Costa, as good as he is, might not be able to play every game and it might surely have an effect on his performances.

The quality:

And finally, the biggest difference between the leagues in Europe and in China is the quality of personnel in the teams. The CSL clubs have a couple of players each of top quality but they are filled with players who are still learning the game. Costa is in the prime of his game and could be a world beater if he can continue his good form. He may break a number of records in China, but winning the Champions League, the Premier League and such competitions is something that will be out of his grasp. Surely, he should snub the clubs from China at least to keep up his quality.
