Leeds Opinion: Would Nicolas Ngamaleu be a good signing for the Whites?

Leeds United’s season has taken a much better path in reality than most people expected at the start of the current Championship season as they didn’t look like they had the squad to really compete.

Having finished last season in 13th place, the transformation that the fans of this historic football club have witnessed over the last year is something truly mind-bending indeed, but irrespective of why, they will be thankful for it.

Currently competing for automatic promotion, they find themselves in a very respectable 2nd place with the chasing pack now not too far behind the Whites at all. They will have to be consistent to achieve promotion this term.

They are just a mere two points behind league leaders Norwich City while 3rd-placed Sheffield United are now two points behind the Whites, which means that within a single week, the complexion of the table could completely turn around.

Going by their season so far, they should be able to squeeze through and achieve promotion but once they do get to the Premier League next season, there are various issues that they’ll have to address.

While there is strengthening needed in multiple positions, the one key area in the Whites’ side that needs reinforcements is the wing. With Ezgjan Alioski now a transformed wing-back, their options on the flank are heavily limited.

Pablo Hernandez is 33 now and while he has delivered this season, he isn’t getting any younger. Meanwhile, Jack Clarke is just 18 and depending on a teenager in a competitive league like the Premier League is out of the question.

Given Jack Harrison’s return to Manchester City at the end of the season, Leeds will be left with no alternatives and that’s why they should move for BSC Young Boys’ Cameroonian winger Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu.

A pacy winger who is capable of beating a man with trickery or by simply using his long strides, his finishing from outside the box sets him apart as a talent in his team. He has delivered 7 goals and 2 assists from his 22 appearances for Young Boys in the Swiss Super League this season.

With 14 international caps under his belt at the age of 24, the winger’s future holds massive things and what better place to hone his skills than England. His movement and strength will suit the English style and this is a move that could take the Leeds XI to the next level.
