According to a report in Sun, West Ham United are planning on a massive striker clear-out in the summer transfer window. The club wants to sell front men Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez – along with midfielder Pedro Obiang.
Hernandez arrived at the London stadium in the summer of 2017, when Slaven Bilic was in charge of the team. The Mexican signed for a fee around
£16m.
Since then, the 30-year-old hasn’t been a regular part of the team, mostly playing a substitute role or playing when the other striker is injured. He has scored 13 goals in 47 appearances, which is decent enough given that 21 of those appearances have come from the bench.
With Pellegrini deciding to offload the former Manchester United striker in the summer, here are the two clubs who should keep him on their radar:
It is fair to say that Everton have failed to replace Romelu Lukaku once the Belgian left Goodison Park in the summer of 2017. They have tried with Cenk Tosun, Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front, but none of them have been able to produce the goals the team requires.
Hence, it is imperative from Marco Silva’s viewpoint that he looks for a striker in the summer window. They won’t get a better option than Javier Hernandez. The Mexican has Premier League experience, can cause a lot of problems to the opposition defence and has a proven scoring record in every level.
Spurs have one of the best strikers in Harry Kane, but struggle for back-up. Fernando Llorente is there as an option, but Mauricio Pochettino and his men would need more firepower up front if they are to challenge for trophies.
Hence, they can try signing Hernandez in the summer. The Mexican can either play alongside Kane, or come on as a sub to impact games. He would be an ideal addition to this Tottenham squad.
