Norwich City are currently the leaders of the Championship and playing some fantastic football to stake their claim for automatic promotion to the Premier League. Daniel Farke is setting up his side to play the kind of game which is generally not witnessed in second-tier football. That means the German deserves a lot of credit and praise for what he is doing at Carrow Road.
The Canaries are two points ahead of second-placed Sheffield United and have the momentum by their side going into the business end of the season. There are many players in that team who are playing well on a regular basis, however, their striker Teemu Pukki has been in unbelievable form this season and is leading the line in the best possible manner.
The Finnish striker has scored 23 goals and supplied six assists in 30 league appearances. He has made key passes at a rate of 1.3 and attempted 3.2 shots per game so far this season. (Whoscored.com)
Those numbers are simply impressive from a player, who is at his peak form and seems to be getting better game after game.
Even though Norwich are favourites to play Premier League football next season, Pukki deserves to be targeted by few established top-flight clubs going into the summer transfer window. Here are the two of them who should target the 28-year-old when the window opens:
Wolves are enjoying a fantastic first season back in the Premier League. They are currently seventh in the table and are one of the front-runners to qualify for Europa League football.
While they have been a consistent team with consistent selection spree from their manager Nuno Espirito Santo, they could do well by signing another striker in the summer.
As of now, the Old Gold have Raul Jimenez as the only striker, who is leading the line, supported by Diogo Jota. Other than that, they don’t have many options on the bench. In case of injury or bad form, they might struggle to replace the threat of either of them.
Furthermore, Jimenez is on loan from Benfica and it is still not finalised whether he will sign a permanent deal with the club or not. Hence, signing Pukki wouldn’t be a bad idea. The Finnish international can play alongside the Mexican and form a deadly duo up front, or can play the impact substitute role.
It is safe to say that Everton need a striker in the summer if they are to improve up front. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun haven’t done enough to fill the boots of Romelu Lukaku.
Hence, Marco Silva should dip in the market and sign Teemu Pukki in few months time. The 28-year-old has been in unreal form this season and could be the man to lead the Toffees to success in the next few years.
