The Best And The Worst Rated Arsenal Players vs Man Utd – Sanchez The Lone Warrior

Share

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was not able to extract revenge on his nemesis at Old Trafford this weekend as he needed a last-ditch goal to even get a point from their clash with Manchester United. Juan Mata gave the Red Devils a lead in the second half as the Gunners looked out of touch and lethargic making it easier for the home side. However, they put in a strong performance in the last quarter of the game to take at least a point and stay near the top of the table.

There were not many players who excelled on the night and here are the player ratings for the Gunners for this game:

Petr Cech (7):

Made a couple of superb saves late in the game to keep Arsenal in the hunt.

Carl Jenkinson (5):

Playing his first league game for Arsenal in more than 2 years, Jenkinson looked sloppy and vulnerable at times. Needs to improve his game.

Shkodran Mustafi (6):

Stuck to his task well at the back as he kept up with the trickery of Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford. Had his nervy moments though.

Laurent Koscielny (6):

Not his best performance in an Arsenal shirt. Koscielny was caught out at the back at times but managed to keep his goal away from danger for most of the game.

Nacho Monreal (5):

On a horrid day when he should have conceded a penalty, the Arsenal full-back was tormented by the Manchester United wingers.

Francis Coquelin (6):

Though wasted possession at times in the final third, Coquelin stuck to his task well in the middle of the park and kept the Manchester United playmakers away from goal for most of the game.

Mohamed Elneny (5):

Got his chance to impress in one of the most important games of the season but was a perennial figure for most of the game having no telling impact what so ever on the night.

Aaron Ramsey (5):

Looked a bit leggy in the midfield as he failed to dominate the middle of the park with the ball at his feet.

Mesut Ozil (4):

A bystander for most of the game, Ozil was absent in most of the Arsenal attacks. He let his side down in one of the most exciting games of the season.

Theo Walcott (5):

Failed to get enough of the ball to have an effect on the final third. Walcott failed to use his pace and trickery to set up chances for his side.

Alexis Sanchez (6):

Put in a decent performance on a frustrating night where he found no joy in front of goal. Should have converted from his header in the first half. It was less than an impressive performance compared to his standards.

Subs:

Olivier Giroud (6)

The first change that Wenger made to his side gave him a goal as the French striker managed to get in a leap at the far post to head in an equaliser late in the game to give his side a point.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (6)

Came on with less than 10 minutes to play but that was enough for the English winger to set up Giroud for his goal picking up an assist in an impressive performance.

Granit Xhaka (5):

Replaced Coquelin in the midfield and made a couple of crucial interceptions to keep his side in the game.
