Defending champions Manchester City continued their charge in the league with a comprehensive 4-0 win against West Ham United away at the London stadium. David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane scored in the first half to take the game beyond the Hammers’ reach. The German then scored very late on in the second half to seal a rather comfortable win away from home.
This win keeps Pep Guardiola’s men at the top with 35 points, two points ahead of Liverpool who kept pace by beating Watford. West Ham on the other hand, are 13th in the table, four points ahead of the drop zone.
Here’s how the Cityzens fared in the game:
Made a couple of vital saves off Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic in the first half. Comfortable after the break.
Very sloppy and slack passing from the Englishman in the first half. Improved after the break.
His first start after a while and the Argentine eased himself back into the line-up without any fuss or alarms.
The Frenchman gets better and better with every passing game. His interceptions and reading of the game are of the highest quality.
He tucked in to trouble the opposition. Defensively, he was very sound out wide.
Strolled through the game without any stretch. He is one hell of a defensive midfielder who controls the game single-handedly.
Scored another goal with a fabulous movement and adroit finish. He runs games for the Cityzens with his magical foot.
The German was solid and tidy in the first half. Struggled a bit after the break when it didn’t matter much.
His goal and two assists in the first half was enough to win the game for the team. Second half was just a stroll and saving energy for Tuesday.
Not his day in front of the goal but no one can fault his effort to work for the team on and off the ball.
Scored a brace and was at his menacing best. Pablo Zabaleta had a hard time dealing with the German.
Came on to add a bit of energy to the midfield. The game was over by then.
Came on to provide Sterling with a rest going into the Tuesday game against Lyon.
Had no time to make an impact.
