West Ham Player Ratings vs Chelsea – Here’s how the Hammers fared

West Ham United became the first team to get points off Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea this season when they held their London rivals to a 0-0 draw. However, as was the case in the game, it is Chelsea who should be breathing a sigh of relief as Andriy Yarmolenko missed a sitter in the second half for West Ham.

The visitors had chances of their own but a lack of cutting in the final third brought out a tame result. This puts Chelsea in third place behind Manchester City on goal difference and two points behind leaders Liverpool.

For West Ham, it was a good performance following their win at Everton last week.

West Ham Player Ratings

Lukasz Fabianski (8)

One of the best players for West Ham this season is their goalkeeper, who made some good saves and commanded the box well.

Lukasz Fabianski

Pablo Zabaleta (8)

The Argentine veteran shut down the fuss of Eden Hazard with aplomb, throughout the game.

Fabian Balbuena (7)

Was very dominant in the air and shored up the back-line with authority. His partnership with Issa Diop is blossoming well.

Issa Diop (7)

Was calm, assured and more importantly, secured at the heart of West Ham defence.

Arthur Masuaku (6.5)

He got caught high up the pitch, which could have proved costly. The left-back is a good attacker but needs to work on his defensive attributes.

Declan Rice (8)

The youngster is growing in confidence and stature in the defensive midfield role. His passing and game awareness is improving with every passing week.

Mark Noble

Mark Noble (7)

The skipper worked and closed the ball in the midfield as much as he could. However, West Ham missed the creativity of Jack Wilshere.

Pedro Obiang (7.5)

Just like his captain, Obiang was tough, gutsy and sturdy but lacked the cutting pass to open the opposition.

Felipe Anderson (5.5)

Couldn’t impact the game much as he was forced to do most of the work in his own half. In spite of that, the Brazilian could have been better with the ball at times.

Andriy Yarmolenko

Andriy Yarmolenko (6.5)

He was good at moving the team ahead, but that miss from close range with no pressure could dwell on his mind for a long time.

Michail Antonio (5.5)

Antonio was full of running and endeavour but his finishing wasn’t good.

Substitutes

Lucas Perez (Subbed on after 65 mins) (5)

Came on to add fresh energy to the front line. Couldn’t impact the game.

Robert Snodgrass (Subbed on after 74 mins) (6)

Put in a peach of a cross for Yarmolenko, only for the Ukrainian to fluff his lines.

Carlos Sanchez (Subbed on after 85 mins) (N/A)

Came on for Noble to add fresh legs to the midfield.
