Strongest Manchester United lineup To Face Everton – Rooney Is Back, Fellaini Should Start Too

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Everton

David Moyes returns to familiar territory at Goodison Park as Manchester United take on Everton in the weekend in what promises to be the match of the game week. Everton come into the clash placed fifth on the table, after a shock 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace in midweek. For the Red Devils, they are already out of any silverware after a terrible season but Moyes will be looking to end the campaign on a high note. So, what will be United’s strongest lineup against the Toffees? We here at Soccersouls have the answer for our readers.

Goalkeeping and Defense

David De Gea

David De Gea will start in goal for the Red Devils and the Spaniard will have to be aware of the attacking prowess that Roberto Martinez has at his disposal. While the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith will play as the attacking three up front, De Gea has to be aware of the crosses from wither flanks directed to Lukaku.

While Rafael is still absent, Smalling is expected to be feature in the right wing back position, it will be interesting to see how Moyes keeps Gerard Deulofeu at bay, playing Alexander Buttner or preferring the experience of Patrice Evra in the left back position. Rio Ferdinand might have to sit out as the Englishman will be incapable to deal with Lukaku’s pace as Phil Jones will shift to the centre to aid Serbian Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the defense. If United can put out a disciplined performance against the Toffees they can well come back with their mouths full.

Midfield:

Marouane Fellaini

Micheal Carrick and Marounne Fellaini should play as the double pivot, meaning Fletcher won’t get a chance to show his nonchalance at Goodison Park. With a number of subplots, the midfield battle will eventually decide the outcome of the clash. Shinji Kagawa, who will start out wide but will gradually  drift to more central areas to lay balls to the strikers up front. While Mata and Kagawa have rarely started together this season, the Spanish-Japanese pair’s link up is certainly a treat to the eyes.  To add more width to the game-play, Valencia should start in the right. Juan Mata will play in his favorite no 10 position. United however need to make sure wither of creative men don’t get overloaded by Everton’s abundance of quality in midfield.

Strike Force:

Rooney

Wayne Rooney should lead the line up front against his boyhood club. Everton have defensively solid this season especially at home, hence the Red Devils have to take advantage of the half chances that fall in their way. Should United win at Goodison Park, David Moyes will perhaps stab expectations to the very cause he had been trying to forge over the past decade in the blue half of Merseyside.
