Stoke City opinion: Should Stoke sign Kevin Lasagna?

Stoke City are struggling and in the Championship, that means trouble for the Potters, despite manager Nathan Jones trying to put out multiple fires.

However, they have a solid goalkeeper in Jack Butland, they have a decent centre-back in Bruno Martins Indi and in Joe Allen, they have a good midfield core.

While their core is pretty solid, Stoke City still have a long way to go before they become a team worthy of the Premier League. The club needs reinforcements and more so, it needs to add quality players that will help them overcome their struggles in the Championship.

That being said, they need players who are good in the present and not ones who were good in the past. Players like Saido Berahino, James McClean, Bojan Krkic and even Benik Afobe are not the way forward.

Former Arsenal youth star Afobe has managed 8 goals this season. However, the fact that he is their top scorer so far this season tells the tale of the former Premier League side.

They need reinforcements and one man who should be on the list is Serie A star Kevin Lasagna. The 26-year-old would be the perfect man to lead the club forward and back into the Premier League.

A talented striker, Lasagna’s had to work hard to get where he is but his rise has been phenomenal and very rapid.

Less than five years ago and the 26-year-old was playing amateur football in Italy’s fourth tier, but has since risen to the highest of levels. Not only does he appear regularly for Udinese, but a less than three months ago, he was given his debut for Italy.

Similar to Jamie Vardy, Kevin Lasagna’s style of play resonates every bit of the Englishman’s intensity. The Italian’s got pace, stamina and the willingness to go above and beyond for his club.

That’s been on show since his move to Udinese in the summer of 2017, with him finishing his debut season with 14 goals and 6 assists. That’s more than anyone at Stoke City managed to score and it’s what Xherdan Shaqiri and Peter Crouch scored combined.

If anything, that statistic shows exactly why the Potters need him. Lasagna’s work rate is unlike anything the Championship has ever witnessed, with the exception of one Jamie Vardy.

Conclusion

Not only does he work hard but his attitude makes fans fall instantly in love with him. The fact that Stoke City are looking for a way back into the Premier League means they have to invest in the right players, and adding Kevin Lasagna will go a long way towards helping them.
