Manchester City left it late late in their first home game of the new season, to salvage a point, drawing 1-1 against Everton, on Monday night.
Despite a number of chances created by the Citizens, it was Everton who took the lead in the 35th minute through that man, Wayne Rooney. And it looked like the Toffees would walk away with three points, until substitute Raheem Sterling brought City back on level terms in the 82nd minute.
Here’s how the Manchester City players fared on the night;
Could have done better for Rooney’s goal, as the ball went through his legs into the net. Did not have much else to do.
Was a little static at times and was given a good test by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Booked for a clumsy challenge on the England youth international.
Not tested a whole lot by his former side and as a result had a fairly comfortable game, before being taken off as Pep Guardiola chased the game.
Forced a couple of saves from Jordan Pickford with a strike from distance. Strong at the back.
Booked in the first-half for a lunge on Leighton Baines. Picked a second yellow soon after, bringing an end to his home debut. Harsh one.
Wasn’t upto scratch in the first-half, but led the fightback very well in the second-half with his team down to ten men.
A typical workhorse-like display by the Brazilian. Asked to do the job in a number of positions over the 90 minutes and stepped up everywhere.
Struck the post in the first period. Looked the most likely to make something happen for the Sky Blues.
Started as the left-sided wing-back, and did not look comfortable. Gave away the ball cheaply leading to the opener.
Should have done better from 10 yards out in the first period. Taken off at the break.
Hesitant on a few occasions, but his link-up play was sharp. Has gone without scoring in seven league games against Everton now.
Came on for Jesus at the restart. Added more dynamism to the City attack and got them back with the late goal.
Replaced Stones after the hour mark. Played an important role after coming on.
Came on for Sane with 20 minutes left.
