Spectacular Chadli: The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Players From Their 4-1 Win Over Colchester United

Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur progressed into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a routine 4-1 win over Colchester United. Eric Dier and Carroll scored after each of Chadli’s strikes, while League One’s bottom side got a consolation through an own goal from Ben Davies. This victory sent them past this stage of the FA Cup for the first time since they reached the semi-final in 2012. The hosts suffered a disastrous start to the game as centre backs Alex Wynter and Tom Eastman were both withdrawn following a clash of heads.

Michel Vorm 6/10

Had one spill early on but other than that had a solid game. Wasn’t troubled a lot though, still he didn’t do much to challenge Lloris for the first team spot.

Kieran Trippier 8/10

Was excellent going down the right flank, put in some dangerous crosses. He was given too much freedom by the Colchester players. It was his cross which led to Chadli’s goal.

Eric Dier 6/10

The Englishman never really looked comfortable, wasn’t able to get out of 2nd gear. Dealt with everything that came his way, although he can’t credited for Tottenham’s second goal as his long-range strike took a massive deflection. Needs a rest.

Kevin Wimmer 7/10

Had a decent game but still has long way to go if he wants to take over from Jan Vertonghen. Kept the hosts quite for large portions of the match.

Ben Davies 6/10

Was unlucky to put the ball in his own net. Didn’t do too much going forward. A very quite game by his standards.

Nabil Bentaleb 7/10

Still looks rusty, needs more game time to get back into match sharpness. Misplaced some passes in the middle of the field. Will need to do more if he wants to earn his place in the regular 11.

Tom Carroll 7/10

Never comes into the limelight, does his work very quietly but managed to grab some headlines today with a goal. Always willing to get involved when attacking.

Erik Lamela 7/10

Hit the post with a fantastic 25-yard curler and supplied Chadli’s strike in the first half. Substituted in the second half, maybe being rested for Tuesday’s Premier League game.

Christian Eriksen 6/10

Had a quite game, given the standards set by him. Had a couple of sights of goal but couldn’t make them count.

Nacer Chadli 9/10

The Belgian can be a frustrating figure at times but, with two goals and an assist, was certainly the star of the show for Spurs. The Belgians rich vein of form continues.

Harry Kane 6/10

Was very selfish in attacking positions, missed a couple of great chances. Would have expected to score against one of the worst defences in the country.
