Best And Worst Rated Liverpool Stars vs West Ham: Brannagan Controlled The Game

Liverpool Player Ratings vs West Ham

Liverpool and West Ham will meet for a fourth time this season after drawing 0-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Liverpool started with a much-changed lineup and with Christian Benteke starting for the team while West Ham were looking for a third win over their rivals this season.

The first half consisted of a few chances for both teams with West Ham’s goalkeeper Darren Randolph doing well to keep a stinging Cameron Brannagan shot out. The second half saw Liverpool up the ante but Darren Randolph and West Ham did their best to nullify the attacking threat from Liverpool.

The Reds will now have to play against the Hammers in the replay, the worst possible result for Liverpool as the games pile up. We look back at a positive performance from the youngsters and providing the ratings for the Reds.

Simon Mignolet – 7/10

Had a couple of iffy moments but still has to work on collecting the ball from corners and crosses.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10

Mr. Dependable, Clyne was his normal self-bombing up and down the right of Liverpool and providing them great support in attack.

Dejan Lovren – 7/10

It was great for Liverpool fans to see the Croatian back in the defence and he did a pretty stellar job for the Reds.

Steven Caulker – 6/10

The first start in his young Liverpool career, Caulker did an alright job, wasn’t easily bullied by the West Ham attackers though.

Brad Smith – 7/10

Another impressive display from the Australian, Brad Smith looks extremely comfortable against Premier League sides as well and based on this showing, he should be knocking on the door of the first team.

Cameron Brannagan – 8/10

Was probably the most impressive player in the midfield, Brannagan looked excellent and controlled the game well, was unlucky not to get a goal.

Kevin Stewart – 7/10

Stewart didn’t have the best of games against Exeter but turned it around and was impressive in his role as the enforcer.

Joe Allen – 7/10

Captain for the day, Joe Allen had a few flashy touches at the start of the game but then faded out as the game went by.

Jordon Ibe – 6/10

A rather poor showing by the young attacker, Ibe seems to be a one trick pony and defences are finding out about him and nullifying his threat.

Joao Teixeira – 8/10

Teixeira was impressive in attack tonight and would have probably scored one had it not been for the fine form of Randolph.

Christian Benteke – 5/10

A poor showing by the Belgian as he barely got into the game and often looked slow and off pace.

Substitutes:

Sheyi Ojo – NA

A surprise to see him come on so late and with only 10 minutes to his name couldn’t do much.

Jerome Sinclair – NA

A late entrant as a substitute and couldn’t do much in the game.

Jose Enrique – NA

Bought on late but didn’t have time to make an impact.
