Arsenal Player Ratings vs Burnley

Arsenal continued their defence of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates. The game turned out to be a bit of a close run thing but the quality that Arsenal possess saw them through to the fifth round of the FA Cup as the Gunners look to make it three trophies in three years.

It was Calum Chambers that got the scoring going in the 20^th minute but Burnley were not about to lie down as Sam Vokes make it all square in the 30^th minute and that is how the two teams went into the half-time break.

Alexis Sanchez, who only played in his second game since November, slotted coolly in the second half to send the defending champions through. Arsenal did have the greater number of chances but Burnley also gave the Gunners a run for their money.

We look back at the Arsenal victory and rate the performances of the Arsenal players.

David Ospina – 7/10

It was a surprise to see the Colombian get a start and he did a decent job between the sticks but couldn’t do much to stop Vokes scoring.

Calum Chambers – 7/10

Chambers certainly did his chances of breaking into the first team no harm by not only scoring but putting in a great performance down the right for Arsenal.

Gabriel Paulista – 5/10

Gabriel didn’t have the best of games and was responsible for the goal conceded by the Gunners.

Laurent Koscielny – 7/10

Laurent had a tough day at the office playing against Andy Gray but didn’t let himself get bullied too much by the Burnley attacker.

Kieran Gibbs – 6/10

Attacked well but Gibbs didn’t have the greatest of games, a decent outing for him but nothing to set the world on fire.

Francis Coquelin – 8/10

Arsenal fans must be happy seeing the French midfielder back to his best after a long injury lay-off.

Mohamed Elneny – 6/10

A decent first outing for the new signing, Elneny will take time to settle into the English way of football though.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7/10

A decent enough performance by the English attacker but needs to do more if he is to keep a starting place for Arsenal.

Alex Iwobi – 8/10

Certainly a player who did a lot of good things in the attacking third. He was involved in both of Arsenal’s goals and certainly will be on Arsene Wenger’s mind for playing him more often.

Alexis Sanchez – 7/10

Sanchez got the winning goal and did pretty well for his first start since the hamstring injury. A few more games under his belt and he should be back to his best.

Olivier Giroud – 5/10

Had a good start to the game but then trailed off, this was one of those games where Giroud showed why Arsenal fans get so frustrated with him.

Substitutes

Mikel Arteta – 6/10

Was brought on to replace Coquelin and did well in his 20 minutes or so on the field.

Tomas Rosicky – 6/10

Another player coming back from injury, Rosicky could play a vital role as Arsenal chase glory this season.

Theo Walcott – 6/10

Came on to replace Olivier Giroud but couldn’t really do much to affect the game.
