Wolves opinion: Should Nuno Santo sign Andrea Pinamonti?

According to a report from Calciomercato, Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to battle it out with 4 Serie A clubs for the signing of Inter Milan’s Andrea Pinamonti.

The report reveals that Sassuolo, Sampdoria, Parma and Fiorentino are all battling Wolves for the signature of the highly rated forward.

Wolves have had a spectacular return to the Premier League as they sit 7th in the league, favourites to make it to the qualifying stages of the Europa League next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been a magician at the Molineux this season and Wolves fans await an exciting second year in the Premier League next season.

Raul Jimenez’s permanent signing was announced earlier this week and the Mexican has had an outstanding debut campaign in England.

However, with European adventure a real possibility next season, Wolves have to strengthen their squad to avoid fatigue.

Wolves should make a move for the young Andrea Pinamonti in the summer and the Italian will be a fine backup for Jimenez next season.

The Inter Milan striker is currently on loan at fellow Serie A club Frosinone for whom he has been hugely impressive this season.

The 19-year-old has 5 goals and 2 assists to his name so far for a struggling Frosinone side who are 5 points off safety with games against Inter, Napoli and AC Milan left to play.

Pinamonti will certainly return to Inter on completion of his loan spell at the end of the season but his chances of staying at the San Siro are minimal, thanks to Inter’s plethora of forward options.

Pinamonti is extremely similar to fellow Inter forward Mauro Icardi and like the Argentine, the 19-year-old shows incredible maturity on the pitch despite his age. The Italian’s quick movement in and around the opposition’s final third makes him incredibly difficult to mark.

His movement is his biggest asset and his ability to lose his marker allows him to break away easily and have a shot at goal. His ability to create a chance out of nothing for himself is a very rare trait, especially for someone so young.

At 6ft 2in tall, the Italian is a massive presence in the air and is a deadly asset to have in set-piece situations. His ability to hold up the play is also exceptional and would be hugely beneficial for a side like Wolves who have willing runners on either wing.

However, Pinamonti is by no means a finished product and there’s still a lot he needs to add to his game. But at 19 years of age, he has enough time to develop and he would do just that under Nuno Espirito Santo in the Premier League.

Conclusion

The addition of Andrea Pinamonti would be a brilliant long-term investment by Wolves and the youngster would provide sufficient backup to Raul Jimenez when required.

Pinamonti would also learn massively from Jimenez and he has the potential to lead the Wolves line for years to come. Wolves should not hesitate in making a move for Pinamonti in the summer.
