Scouting For Antonio Conte – 3 Possible Players Chelsea Should Target In January

Share

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea thumped the Champions of England this weekend at home as goals from Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses gave Chelsea all three points from this game. However, even with back to back victories, the manager will still be looking to add a couple of players to his squad in the summer to help him with more options during crunch times in the season. This has seen him scout for a number of players even during the season for a move in January. Though the defense will be bolstered by the return of Kurt Zouma and John Terry, Conte will know that he will need to take the club to the top of the table. Here are three such players Conte should target in January:

Felipe Anderson (Lazio):

Recent reports have suggested that Conte is ready to make a bid for Brazil international Felipe Anderson this January. The 23-year old is a dynamic winger who has some electric pace and some silky skills. He has been in great touch for the Italian outfit for some time now and has also recently got his first call-up for the national side. He is in some decent form this season and Conte wants to add him to his squad to provide some natural width in attack for his side. At 23, Anderson has a lot of time to improve as a player and playing under Conte will surely make him a better player and will in turn help his side compete with the best in the business.

Matteo Darmian (Manchester United):

Though not a move that can easily happen, Chelsea, have their eyes on Manchester United outcast Matteo Darmian for a move this January. The Italian full-back has not been able to impress the new manager at United and has not started a single game in the league for the side. He is up for sale in January with a number of Italian clubs vying for his signature but Conte wants a reunion with his Italian colleague and wants to add him to his squad to improve his defense. Darmian is a decent player who needs some game time to prove himself and though Mourinho is not ready to sell to a direct rival, he can be a top-class addition to the squad if Conte can get his hands on him.

Michael Keane (Burnley):

Creating waves in England with his superb performances week in week out for Sean Dyche’s side, Michael Keane is now one of the top transfer targets for Chelsea. The 23-year old is a strong, smart center half who belongs to the league and it is understood that he is tipped off as a replacement for club skipper John Terry. Having also received a call for the national side, Keane is at the top of his game early in his career and taking him to the club in January and slowly getting him used to the club to dump the responsibilities on him from the start of the next season will be a decent move for the Blues. Surely, he is a defender Conte cannot afford to let go in January.
