Sam Grimshaw Scouting report: Find Out Why Manchester United Are Interested In This Youngster

Manchester United seem to be preparing for next season already, they have already planned their US pre-season tour and are willing to carry a few youngsters. Sam Grimshaw is all set to play for Manchester United in the tour, the Glossop North End star had an earlier trial period with United where he really impressed the manager and youth team coaches and it seems that he is set to get another run with the club but just who is this young hotshot?

The 21-year-old primarily plays as a winger for the non-league club, but he is adept at playing as a left back also if there is a need. The young attacker has been linked with a move to many big clubs, but it seems that Manchester United have stolen the march on their rivals by getting the youngster to go on the trip with them.

One thing which might be a bit of a sour note to Manchester United fans is that Grimshaw spent 9 years of his career in Manchester City’s youth academy, he is incredibly fast for a player and has been recorded to have covered 100 metres in just 11 seconds which is a great asset to have for a winger. Grimshaw would probably need to spend a couple of seasons on loan to enhance his skills and to learn the game since he has been playing a lot of non-league football.

Manchester United do need someone who can play both in attack and defence and that is something that Grimshaw can do but can he do it at a high level? That is probably something which United need to be wary about, it could become a case like Januzaj, when Adnan broke into the team it was expected that he would be the greatest winger to have come out from the Manchester United academy since Ryan Giggs but couple of years later, it looks like he has been burnt out.

Grimshaw should know that he would really have to impress in this tour if he is to ensure a contract with the Red Devils. Manchester United look at a lot of youngsters from all across the globe and Grimshaw would have to be on the top of his game to get that contract, this won’t be a holiday for him in the US but a true test of what he really is capable for the team and his ability.
