Saiz And Phillips To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Leeds Line-up To Face Reading On Saturday

Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Reading In EFL Championship

Leeds’ promotion train has been derailed recently with three defeats in the last four games, though their 5th place in the table right now shows they are still well placed to mount a challenge.

Sadly predictably, it’s not been a success story so far this season for Reading and the game represents a great opportunity for Thomas Chritiansen’s Leeds side to get much-needed three points. The familiar 4-2-3-1 formation should be in evidence once again:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

GK – Felix Wiedwald

Fans weren’t exactly jumping for joy when the German replaced Rob Green but he’s been in decent form and should keep his place.

RB – Luke Ayling

The right-back plods on in his usual position and to be fair, has been as solid as ever. His support play in an attacking sense is important to what can otherwise be a fairly narrow system.

Luke Ayling

CB – Matthew Pennington

Liam Cooper missed out last time due to suspension, something you would think will happen again and again. Although the 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday was a disastrous performance, Pennington might be given the chance to link up with Jansson once again.

CB – Pontus Jansson

The impressive Swede has carried on his excellent form from last season and will surely be a Premier League player one way or the other next season.

LB – Gatano Berardi

The Swiss international is a man for all seasons and while he is unspectacular, he is solid enough in this line-up.

CM – Eunan O’Kane

Ronaldo Vieira is chomping at the bit to get involved, but one of the most impressive things about Leeds’ campaign so far has been this central midfield partnership.

Eunan O’Kane

CM – Kalvin Phillips

The 21-year-old is coming of age quickly and has been in sparkling form this term. His performances now are marking him out as a Premier League player and he should carry on here.

RW – Kemar Roofe

In the same bracket as Vieira and Phillips, Roofe has proven that he can play in this league and should only get better.

CAM – Samu Saiz

Much like Wiedwald at the back, the signing of Saiz was met with a little confusion at first but he has definitely proven himself with his 2 goals and 2 assists in 8 appearances, which show him in a very good light.

Samu Saiz

LW – Egzijan Alioski

Hadi Sacko is pushing for a start, but for now, the status quo may be maintained with Alioski supporting Lasogga from the left-hand side of the attack.

ST – Pierre-Michael Lasogga

Lasogga’s people were adamant that he was being mistreated in Germany and that led to his poor form and, if we believe his early stats, they were right!  Lasogga has netted 3 goals and assisted 2 others in his 5 Championship games to date and he might be the man to lead Leeds the Premier League.
