Burnley will look to continue their fine start to the season as they welcome a slowly improving West Ham to Turf Moor. The Clarets currently sit 6th in the Premier League table after putting up a string of fine performances. Their away form has been remarkable but they are quite strong at home as well.
They’ve been subjected to a defeat only once this season so far, and will be looking to continue that trend as they face West Ham at home.
Burnley striker Nahki Wells will have to miss out since he is still not fit to feature after his deadline day move from Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Nick Pope has stepped up superbly since replacing Tom Heaton at goal, who will be absent for a long period after dislocating his shoulder, whilst Jon Walters could be in line to make an appearance.
Brady is expected to start, and he will be a key player going forward. Burnley will rely on him to get the goals, while Defour will be an important presence in the midfield.
With Heaton out, Pope has truly stepped up to the plate to take responsibility. He has been solid and will start against West Ham.
Lowton should start at right-back. The player will look to continue Burnley’s strong defence to possibly muster a win.
Tarkowkski should take up the role of centre-back, and will be keen to nullify West Ham’s attack force and push for a clean sheet.
Mee and Tarkowski have enjoyed a good partnership so far, and are likely to continue the same on Saturday.
Ward will assume his usual left-back role. The Burnley defence has been quite strong and Ward has been a key part of that.
Cork should take up his defensive midfield role, and will be responsible for orchestrating the sneaky counter attacks, while also linking the defence to attack.
Defour will be a crucial presence in the midfield, just like in the previous games. He is creative and cautious – both attributes which have worked in his favour so far.
Hendrick should line up alongside Defour to provide him with the necessary support, and also to supply the front line with chances.
Gudmundsson is expected to start on the right wing. He has been quite rusty of late, but should bounce back against West Ham.
Brady has been extremely influential for Burnley going forward. He is likely to be deployed on the left wing, and will be a key factor in scoring goals.
Vokes should spearhead the attack, and will be determined to see his name more than once on the scoresheet.
