Predicted Celtic Line-up To Face Aberdeen In The Scottish Premiership

Celtic will play host to their closest challengers in the Scottish Premiership, when they face second-placed Aberdeen, at the Celtic Park on Saturday.  

The Hoops’ surreal 69-game unbeaten run was brought to a halt by Hearts this past weekend, but Brendan Rodgers’ men managed to bounce back from that loss with a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle during the midweek. The manager will be hoping that his troops put on a similar showing against the Dons and widen the gap between the two sides to 8 points.

Defender Jozo Simunovic remains a doubt for the game following his injury in the weekend loss to Hearts, whereas attacking midfielder Tom Rogic has been ruled out of action at least until the new year. On-loan winger Patrick Roberts too has been sidelined for the reigning Scottish champions.  

Here’s how the Bhoys might take the field against Aberdeen at home:

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Craig Gordon (GK)

The veteran Scottish shot-stopper is the first-choice between the sticks for Rodgers and should remain so for the clash on Saturday. 

Mikael Lustig (RB)

The Swedish defender should take his place on the right-hand side of the back four for the Bhoys and provide them with width when going forward.  

Kristoffer Ajer (CB)

Given the number of injuries to defensive personnel for Celtic, young Kristoffer Ajer could be set for another start on Saturday. 

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

The senior pro in the backline, the former Manchester City man will need to be at the top of his game against the Dons.  

Kieran Tierney (LB)

Scored a goal in the midweek game and will come into the weekend’s encounter high on confidence. Could prove to be a menace with his forward forays.  

Scott Brown (CM)

Club captain Scott Brown is one of the most important players on the field for the Bhoys and he will start the match against Aberdeen.  

Stuart Armstrong (CM)

The Scottish international found the back of the net on Wednesday night against Partick and will hope to carry on in a similar fashion on Saturday. 

James Forrest (RW)

The winger should keep his place on the right flank in the absence of Patrick Roberts for the Hoops.  

Callum McGregor (CAM)

The Scotsman is a vital part of this Celtic team and he will take his place in the starting XI, in the No.10 position on Saturday.  

Scott Sinclair (LW)

The 28-year old Englishman hasn’t been able to perform consistently this season and will need to start doing so from now.  

Moussa Dembele (ST)

Having been benched in favour of compatriot Odsonne Edouard against Partick, the former Fulham striker could be in line for a return on Saturday.
