The Northern Irish goalkeeper has been playing second fiddle to Kiko Casilla since the Spaniard’s arrival in January.
Prior to that, Farrell was the first choice shot-stopper for Marcelo Bielsa after breaking to the main team last year.
The 22-year-old was nominated as the first team goalkeeper for his country in the Euro qualifiers.
In fact, the Irish men emerged victorious after defeating Estonia 2-0. Post game, the young shot-stopper opened about his situation at the club.
He said, (h/t Leeds Live)
“It has been difficult and character building.
“You have to try and take the positives out of it. It was an opportunity for me to work on a few things, get in the gym and build on things that way as well.
He also added that international break came at the right time for him to pick up the momentum.
Farrell was highly appreciated for his performance against Estonia and the last night’s win against Belarus.
He, in fact, made a crucial save in the injury time to secure a 2-1 win over Belarus.
Casilla’s red card in the previous game means that Northern Irish youngster will get his chance against Millwall this Saturday.
Another good performance from Farrell can play the former Real Madrid goalkeeper down the pecking order.
LUFC will be going all out for the rest of the games to secure their first Premier League promotion in more than ten years.
They are currently third in the Championship table trailing Sheffield United by a point.
